Re: Depo Provera Information

I have been on depo for 5 years now... and it has worked pretty well... until the last 6 months or so I've been pretty pain free... I experienced about a 40lb weight gain in the first 2 years I was taking it... however I will take that over what I was going through before I was diagnosed! I've heard it can take as long as a year to get everything right for having a baby after depo... I'm looking at trying for kids in about 2-3 years from now... however I guess my ovaries are in pretty bad shape... and it is going to be tough... anyways... back on point... What happened with me is: had laproscopy and cleaned up the sites... was put on lupron for 6 months... then I was put straight on depo. However now they also have me on the pill too... I have started bleeding fairly heavy all the time which I guess can happen when you've been on depo for long periods of time (dr explained to me that the uterus starts getting thin) Anyways to make a long story short.... My experience up until recently has been great! However in my case they are trying to keep me from having any kind of cycles until I'm ready for kids... so it may not be for you. Good Luck. Let me know how it works out for you and hope I've been of some help.

I hope to have kids in the next two-three years, but I'm really concerned about how long it takes to have a normal cycle after the Depo Provera and any side effects. Any personal experiences you could share would be very helpful. Thanks!
