Cist

I was diagnosed with cists at age 20. Now at 33 undergoing a checkup I was put on the pill to determine the nature of the cists. It turns out there is one cist close to the fallopian tubes that is not functional and the doctors recommendation is to remove it with a non-intrusive surgery. As explained to me there is no immediate risk but the cist could turn in the direction of the tube and cause an emergency situation. Is this correct? Should I have the cist removed?
