a rare form of endoFrom: sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Feb 2 09:21:35 2000
About a year and a half ago my belly button started to swell and bleed with my periods (scarey!) My gp diagnosed me with umbilical endo and refered me to a gynae. He was surprised and said he`d never seen a case like mine before. The attempts to resolve my problems have been unsuccessful and included trying to cut out the lump and a 3 month course of Zoladex. It has been a nightmare, I have to wear a plaster over my belly button during periods and it can be really painful. I am now told I`ll have to have my umbilicus removed and a new belly button made by plastic surgery. I have felt extremely isolated as its not the sort of illness that can be easily discussed. I`d be really grateful to hear from anyone with a similar problem. Thanks for letting me share this with you.
-- Best wishes, Sarah
