Papilloma

I am 32 years old and was diagnosed with Fibrocystic Dreast disease in 1990. My symptoms were burning pain in both breasts and pearly white discharge. My doctor told me to limit my caffeine intake and to supplement my diet with Vitamin E. Four months ago I expressed a dark fluid from one breast and I mentioned it to a doctor while having my annual gynecological exam. She told me that fluid expression was not normal for Fibrocystic Breast Disease and ordered blood work for prolactin levels. The blood work came back negative. I saw my original doctor four days later and she found no lumps other than the usual that accompany F.B.D., but took samples of my breast fluid and ordered a mammogram. Interestingly enough, when I quit drinking caffeine altogether the blackish discharge stopped, now both breasts just produce the fluid I am accustomed to seeing. I had my mammogram and no cancer was found. The cytology report came back on my breast fluid and also came up fine, although I don't know exactly what the nurse meant by fine. Now I am seeing a specialist who has ordered a bilateral ductogram to find out if I have and Intraductal Papalloma. I have done some research and found that these are normally benign, but why wouldn't a mammogram show them? My real question boils down to this; What is the general chance that a papilloma is cancerous, and when excised, what is the chance of repeat problems? I never thought anything about this discharge, because in 1990 it was passed off as symptomatic of my condition, but now I can't get a straight answer out of anyone about how normal or abnormal this is. I am very confused and very frightened. Is it possible my disregard of caffeine intake caused the blackish discharge? I would appreciate any and all thoughts on my problem very much. Thank you.
