Palpable lump does not show up in mammo or u/s

I found a smooth mass in my right breast about 10 days ago. The mammo and u/s did not image the mass; the radiologist said that my breasts are very dense. I am waiting to hear from my GYN for a referral to a surgeon and am very concerned. I am 35 yo and have no family history of cancer.

Is it possible that my "dense" breasts could be occluding a malignancy? The mass feels smooth and is about 3/4 inch long and about 1/3 inch wide. It feels like it is embedded to the tissue, not separate. Thanks in advance for any insights.
