Two days ago I woke up and noticed that underneath my right breast was sore. Later that day I checked and felt a small lump. The next day it still hurt and I checked again, and not only can I feel a small, pea-sized, firm, movable lump, but I can actually see it in the mirror when I lift my arms above my head. It just sticks out. I saw a doctor today, and she didn't seem concerned. She told me that it wasn't really in breast tissue (although it is right there at my bra line) and since it was painful and movable, she thought it was probably a cyst or a hormonal reaction to the birth control patch I started taking two days before the lump appeared. She wants me to wait two weeks, and if it doesn't go away then they will look at it further. I'm a nervous wreck! I can't wear a bra, and it hurts to just hold my 9 month old on that side. I'm 28 years old and was told 3 years ago that I had fibrocystic breasts, but this is very different from the norm. Could cancerous lumps just appear this suddenly? I know that I'm probably being unreasonable, but I'm just sick about this. Thanks for any advice you could give me.
