When liver metastases show up on a scan, the management will be medical, i.e. chemotherapy may be offered to help suppress or slow the growth of these masses. Sometimes, they can regress with treatment. It is not usually recommended to remove these surgically or by other methods. Your oncologist will advise you regarding treatment. Hannah Brooks, MD, FACS
