question about a lump

During my annual my docotor noticed a small lump during my exam. She has scheduled an appoint for me to return for tests.

She really didnt say much about what it is or what it could be. Usually before my period I experience tenderness on my breasts and notice small lumps, as if my glands are immflammed, a small pain, but more of a discomfort. I never really thought much about the lumps because it happens every month.

Should I be alarmed that she now wants me to go for a test. I never noticed the lump this time cause it wasnt painful.

I am afarid it might be a cyst. Are cyst painful? Do that have to be removed? Any info will help.

Thanks
