Dear Darlene- It would be best for your mom to at least get an examination and even a sonogram until the mammogram facility is available. It will provide her with some information. Some surgeons may even perform a needle biopsy in the office if they feel a specific lump of concern. Get her in while you can convince her to go. Good luck. Keep us posted. Hannah Brooks, MD, FACS
