Dear Amber-If you are still having symptoms in the breast, you could have a follow up diagnostic sonogram to see if there is residual deep abscess or perhaps residual tissue necrosis from the acute infection. If you are still uncomfortable, ask for a second opinion. Perhaps a biospy is in order if anything looks unusual on the mammogram or sonogram. Hannah Brooks, MD, FACS
