I am 31 years old and have been on birth control for 13 years straight. For about a year, I have experinced very painful breasts and starting on the second week of pills my breasts and underarm swell so bad my lymph nodes enlarge and stay swollen until the week of sugar pills and my period. I have been to the doctor, had a negative mammo and ultrasound, seen a surgeon, tried a new type of pill with less estrogen, cut out caffeine, take vitamin E and B-6, but still my breasts still swell painfully. Why have my breasts started to react to painfully to the pill and could there be other reasons other than the hormones in the pill that could cause this? My doctor just says I have fibrocystic breasts. Is that really all it is because I thought the pill was supposed to help that not happen. The pain and especially the enlarged lymph nodes really worry me.
