Dear Dr. Brooks,Just looking for a little reassurance that I am pursuing the right path. I met with a breast surgeon in April regarding a non-lactational mastitis. The heat and redness and major pain had cleared. He did a breast exam and studied the mammo (I am 31) and the ultrasound and there were dilated ducts from the infection.
I had a follow-up and he said everything is fine. I still have pains but less but I also have fibrocystic breasts. So I have painful lumps all the time. Do other women have non-cyclical pain associated with this condition? Some of my lumps feel like a pea?
Also, I have made an appointment for a second opionion. This whole ordeal has thrown me for an emotional loop - I am taking Zoloft now. I need peace of mind that it is not more serious like IBC or something like that. I do like my current breast surgeon but I do not know if I trust anyone right now. Do breast surgeons tend to be cautious - if there was any inkling of IBC would they order a biopsy?
Thanks in advance.
