Jeanine,

I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner. It is comforting to know that there are other women in (what I used to think) my situation.I am happy to report that I had a breast reduction on my large side, and a breast lift on my small side 2 weeks ago.I couldn't be happier with the results! I was originally approved (without appeal) with ins in December.Doc's sched did not allow for surgery before coverage changed (employer changed ins co), so I had to go through the process again in January.I was denied with new ins.I promptly appealed, and had my gyn, and family doc send letters on my behalf. They finally approved the reduction only.Whew! My advice to you is to stay on top of your ins co because mine had a funny way of never receiving letters or faxes.I waited many times, and then called only to find out that they had not received certain docs. Strange..Also, if you are experiencing any kind of neck/shoulder/back pain, document that with insurance, as that may help in your approval.I feel great now.The worst part of the surgery for me was actually getting to the surg center (I am a chicken), and getting the IV.Once I got over those two things, it was easy! I even walked into the OR.Upon waking from anesthesia, I wasn't in a whole lot of pain.As best as I can remember (and fortunately anesthesia helps you forget) I just was just sore.I was able to dress (with assistance) myself before discharge. My most severe pain at the surg ctr was a 5 out of 10 on the pain scale. My pain meds gave me severe headaches though. These were worse than the surgical pain.By the way, the lifted side was not very painful at all, the reduction side had much more work done.As best as I can describe my feelings now, the side of my breast under my armpit is the tender part now. My PS said that this is due to the nerves. I wore a tube top the first 4 or 5 days, then switched to a very comfortable sports bra.I am now in a very comfortable regular bra -B cup!Just tender on the side, and the incision is still healing, but getting better every day.The lift side scabs are all gone. I am so glad and relieved that I actually went through with the procedures.I am in heaven!Keep in touch, I am here for you :) Jennifer
