Dear Sandy- The 'lump" that suddenly appeared after childbirth may be a clogged milk duct. Alternatively, it may be a benign lump that just grew larger with the pregnancy--for example, a fibroadenoma. If this is really very sudden, it is unlikely to be anything serious. It can be looked at with a sonogram to check its size and appearance (liquid or solid, smooth or irregular, etc). It can also be aspirated in the doctor's office with a fine needle if more testing is needed (for example, if it shows up solid on the sonogram). Speak to your doctor about these options. I just had a baby one week ago I have discovered a lump on my right breast at the top. My breast are tender I was wondering could this be due to my breast getting milk? I am not breast feeding I am 23 years old and very scared. The lumo it self is not painful but my breast have enlarged and they are tender. My last breast exam was at the begining of my pregnancy. My doc said he would check at the end of my post pardum because it is hard to tell with milk. Do you have any advice or anything to aff that might ease my mind?
