Dear Gabrielle- Sorry to hear you must undergo surgery and further treatment. but I know we all wish you good luck and a quick recovery. The medications you have been prescribed should be the only ones you use for your symptoms until you can speak to your neurologist again. You may find some relief with ice packs to the back of the neck, loose clothing, etc (all the things I'm sure you've been trying). Also, some find relief with acupuncture--just be sure to have a recommendation to a reputable practitioner. Hannah Brooks, MD,FACS

Hi, remember me? The parlodel NF1 girl with weight problems and a chocolate issue? So, apart from a prolactinoma, my Drs have found two tumours on the nerve that runs under the rib under my breast. They have tried to do various things to help relieve the pain.

About a 6 weeks ago I have a phenol injection into the nerve and a short while later had severe burning on my right side so was put onto neurontin and trepolene(?????).

Biopsys have found the larger tumour (under my rib cage in my lung cavity and about the size of a tennis ball) to be malignant. Obviously this needs to be removed and surgery is planned for the 2nd week in Jan 2002.

My questions

I have cut out chocolate and am wathing my diet but have gained weight (nothing too excessive I have been near this weight and over before).

I am also constantly hot, my hair is drenched and my skin clammy.

My pain specilaist and nerologist are both away and there are no answers to these questions.

Can you help??

I know that I should be consentrating on my upcoming surgery but there is a chance I will need both these drugs for several years to come.
