breast lump--trying to conceive

I am 32 years old with no history of breast cancer in my family. Last April I noticed a small lump under my left arm. My obgyn sent me for a mam. and ultrasound. They found a small mass and told me to come back for an ultrasound in 6 months. I did and was informed that the lump has increased slightly, although the doctor who saw me said that may be due to hormones (my period is due next week). She wants me to come back in 6 months for another mamagram and ultrasound--and she wants me to schedule it for the week after my period. When I told her that my husband and were planning on trying to conceive in the next few months she said "well, I suggest you wait." My question is, do we really have to wait? When I mentioned to my obgyn during a visit in October that we wanted to start a family soon, she didn't mention anything about the lump delaying it (she just says I have "lumpy breast" and should cut down on the caffeine). Advice?
