Nipples Hard All The Time

Hi! I have a some what embarrassing problem, and I don't know if it is abnormal. My nipples are almost always erect, and when subjected to conditions that would make normal nipples erect (cold, excitement, etc), mine become painfully hard.

I am a healthy, fit 31 year-old with normal, firm c-cup breasts, and have had this problem for a few years now. As you can imagine, it causes a lot of unwanted attention. I am uncomfortable at work (mostly males) because I have a good male friend there who has told me that other men talk about my constantly hard nipples.

I have never had children and I am currently not on the pill. I just wanted to find out if it is a symptom of anything, or something I will have to live with.
