Dear Andrat- It is not uncommon for the pill to cause breast pain, aches, and even cysts when it is first started. Some women find that these symptoms resolve after a few months. Hannah Broosk, MD,FACS

I started taking the Pill two weeks ago and the next day my breasts started swelling and aching. I am 24 years old and I usually experience the same sort of pain and discomfort before my period starts. I had just finished my period two weeks ago when I started taking the Pill. My right breast is usually more painful than the other one. Also, I had a gyno exam and a pap smear about a month ago and my breast exam turned out fine, but I can't help but worry when my breasts start getting this achy. Last night I actually thought I found a lump in my right breast (which is harder than my left one) but then I realized both my breasts feel kind of lumpy and grainy. I have made a doctor's appointment, but I just need as much info and help as I can get.
