Dear Lynn- This could very well be scar tissue. In any case, you should have this looked at. While it is unlikely to be serious, it could easily be removed, once and for all, during a minor office-based procedure. It should be looked at by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for this purpose to be sure the "lump" is not a keloid--which can sometimes be made worse by further surgery. Hannah Brooks, MD,FACS

I had a pimple on my breast that I picked at and it turned into a sore. It has healed and there is a visible scar where it was. There is also a round smooth nodule beneath the scar. I don't have any other breast irregularities. My age is 29 and there is no hx of breast cancer in my family. The nodule is not painful and does not change in size. It has been there for several months. Is this scar tissue?
