Breast cancer was around way before antiperspirants. Women from cultures or countries that do not use antiperspirants develop breast cancer. Slightly more breast cancers occur in the upper outer quadrant of the breast compared to the other three quadrants--not "most" Toxins are "purged" from the body through the urine and feces for the most part. The organs that do this work include the liver and kidneys- -not the underarms and the spaces behind the knees... Lymph nodes are located throughout the body, not just under the arms, and breast cancer starts in the breast and travels elsewhere--not the other way around i.e. not from lymph node to breast. Men have a lower incidence of breast cancer because their levels of estrogen are lower and their breast tissue is not stimulated to grow or develop past a rudimentary point. Almost every point in this article is inaccurate.------------------ Reply Separator -------------------- Originally From: rcl01@earthlink.net (Ginger) ------------------ Reply Separator -------------------- Subject: Antiperspirants causing breast cancer ------------------ Reply Separator -------------------- Date: 07/22/2001 05:05pm
Please respond to the emails going around about antiperspirants causing breast cancer. Here is a quote from an email I received,"A concentration of toxins leads to cell mutations, a.k.a.CANCER. Yes, ANTIPERSPIRANT. Most of the products out there are an antiperspirant/deodorant combination, so go home and check. Deodorant is fine, antiperspirant is not. Here's why. The human body has a few areas that it uses to purge toxins from the body -- behind the knees, behind the ears, the groin area, and armpits. The toxins are purged in the form of perspiration. Antiperspirant, as the name clearly indicates, prevents you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body from purging toxins from below the armpits. These toxins do not just magically disappear. Instead, the body deposits them in the lymph nodes below the arms since it is not sweat them out. Nearly all breast cancer tumors occur in the upper outside quadrant of the breast area. This is precisely where the lymph nodes are located. Additionally, men are less likely (but not completely exempt) to develop breast cancer prompted by antiperspirant usage because lots of the antiperspirant product is caught in their underarm hair and is not directly applied to the skin. Women who apply antiperspirant right after shaving increase the risk further because shaving causes almost imperceptible nicks in the skin, which give the chemicals entrance into the body from the armpit area."
I believe there are numerous problems with this analysis but please tell me what you think.
