Dear dib-Appreciate your comments. Regarding genetic counseling, it is ALWAYS a good idea to get information. The testing itself may be declined if a person chooses. Some of the reasons for getting BRCA-tested include taking different preventive measures if they are available. For example, some women with very high-risk and with positive BRCA have chosen to have prophylactic mastectomy, or may be eligible to enter into other trials for breast cancer prevention. There may be many other considerations specific to an individual. While I do not advocate testing one way or another, I think it is better to obtain counseling and to be as informed of as many options as possible. Another site for more information on genetic testing is myriad.com Hannah Brooks, MD,FACS

You have high risk to breast cancer
Instead of getting a mammogram every year, is it a good idea to alternate a breast > ultra-sound and a mammogram, for fear of too much radiation?
No.Mammogram is much better than USG Ultra-sound only complement a mammogran, some times. To prevent an invasive breast cancer ( to do diagnosis of In Situ breast cancer )or to do early diagnosis of breast cancer the examination is Mammography.
Also, do > you have any other information that could be of great help to me?
Thank > you.
" imaginis.com" and " nih.gov " are indeed very good home pages :
I would like to say the following : If you do self-examination of your breast, a examination with your doctor every six months, and a mammography every year, you will detect a POSSIBLE breast cancer in early stage, and you will not die of breast cancer !!!
Important thing to say about genetic testing ( brca1): even positive this fact do not means that you will have a breast cancer, than, why to do it? To increase your anxiety?
