Correlation between early-age mammograms & breast cancer?

Hello,

I was wondering if there have been any studies at all showing a correlation between mammograms in the early years of a woman and breast cancer later in life.

When I was in my early 20's I had 6 mammograms because of severe 'fibrocystic' breasts. <This was in the early 1980's> My family physician was concerned enough at the time to have me scheduled for them every 6 months as a precaution because of the amount of the lumps. <ultrasounds were not done> As I got older the severity lessoned and I stopped having the mammograms.

Now, in my early 40's, I've been found to have papillomas, hyperplasia and apocrine metaplasia. I have no family history of breast cancer, yet am concerned that because of the earlier radiation that I may be at a higher risk of breast cancer.

Thank you for your time,

Holly
