Joelle, I am writing just to reassure you. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at age 31 (I'm now 38). I am your worst case scenario and I'm doing FINE!!!! I did not have a multinoduler goiter. Having a multinodular goiter is a better indication that you DO NOT have thyroid cancer versus having just one solitary cold nodule like I did. That is suspicious. However, please note that blood work and ultrasound do not rule out cancer. Neither does a scan and in many (most) cases, a fine needle biopsy will even miss thyroid cancer. Surgery with a full pathology investigation is the only way to have it diagnosed with any real accuracy. My point here is that this goiter is obviously causing you great distress. If I were in your shoes I would get it checked just to see if it is increasing in size--I mean it is just not really useful to have something growing in your neck (benign or cancerous). If it causes you distress, think about having it removed. ChristineAt Fri, 16 Aug 2002, Joelle wrote: >
