The only weight gain associated with the pill is a retention of about 5-8 pounds of water. This starts as soon as the pill is started and lasts until it is stopped, when it goes away. Yasmin has a totally diferent type of progestational agent in it. Drospirenone is derived from spironolactone which is a diuretic. Drospirenone retains a little of the diuretic effect and decreases the amount of water retained and the weight only goes up 2-4 pounds. while taking Yasmin.
